On Wednesday November 18, 2010 Governor Paterson signed the bill putting Leandra’s Law on the books in New York State. NY is now joining a growing number of states increasing the penalties for driving drunk in a car with a child. The law was inspired by the death of Leandra Rosada, an 11 year old child who tragically died when the driver, 31-year-old Carmen Huertas was driving 7 young passengers to a slumber party and flipped the car. Lenny Rosada, the young girls father was a key force in pushing this law info effect.
